Lead Hydro-Meteorological Technician, GS-1341-12 (MAP)

The working title for this position is Observing Program Leader (OPL). As an Observing Program Leader (OPL), you will perform the following duties:
Issue weather, water, and climate information, including accurate and timely warnings and forecasts, to the public and other customers served within the Weather Forecast Office (WFO) area of responsibility. Analyze and evaluate local synoptic and mesoscale weather and hydrologic observations available from multiple observation sources at the WFO while on an operational shift. Ensure the basic operating characteristics of National Weather Service (NWS) electronic and computer systems used in data acquisition, communications, information processing, and dissemination activities, including control procedures associated with the Weather Surveillance Radar -1988 Doppler (WSR-88D) and Next-Generation Radar (NEXRAD) systems. Provide appropriate advice, trainings, guidance, explanations, weather briefings and answers to questions as requested by the public, the media, and other interested customers of weather, water, and climate products and services. There is no positive education requirement for this position. Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Experience:
Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:
Using WSR-88D systems for data acquisition, information processing, and dissemination activities; Developing, analyzing, monitoring, and evaluating mesoscale weather and hydrologic observations including the resolutions to inconsistent or questionable observations; Assessing weather situations and associated meteorological and hydrologic data to provide information, warnings and forecasts to the public and customers; and Assembling, monitoring, or maintaining weather instruments including NEXRAD.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
