Summer Job Riding 4 Wheelers in the Badlands

Aaris, LLC Aaris, LLC Rapid City, SD Rapid City, SD Part-time Full-time Part-time Full-time From $17 an hour From $17 an hour 11 hours ago 11 hours ago 11 hours ago Hello.
Our small family owned business (Aaris, LLC) will be hiring shortly for the spring/summer season.
Our business is currently contracted through the Forest Service to place insecticide (DeltaDust) in prairie dog holes to help contain/stop the spread of the plague that is passed through prairie dog colonies from the fleas.
We do work out of town in the Badlands (Scenic/Interior/Wall areas).
We meet in a general location in the mornings and carpool in work vehicles to/from the work site.
Travel time is not paid.
We do come back to Rapid City daily.
The position entails riding around on a 4-wheeler daily with a machine that sprays the DeltaDust down into prairie dog holes.
You will keep track of every prairie dog hole you spray with a clicker that is connected to the quad.
This is not a fast-paced job and there will be no hot rodding around tolerated as we can not be tearing up the lands.
Due to this reason our spring season can be a bit on and off as we cannot work if the ground is too muddy or if it is raining.
This job will have you outside in extreme temps - whether it be cold or hot, and you need to be prepared (water packs, ball caps, work boots, etc.
).
The bugs can occasionally get bad also.
The quads are provided by the business.
Workdays are Monday - Friday and hours vary due to the weather/travel time.
We generally meet around 7am and return 4-5pm.
Occasional optional weekends.
We are typically very lenient about requests for time off as long as it doesn't become a regular occurence.
However, no calls - no shows will not be tolerated and your position will be terminated immediately if this were to happen.
The season typically goes from start date (which will likely be the beginning of April/mid April) until the end of September.
There may be an option for more work in the fall/winter season but that can be discussed at a later time.
You do need to pass an open book test to be certified to be an applicator.
We do pay for the certification after the test is passed so this will be free to you - you will just need to set up the day and time that works best for you.
Starting wage is $17/hr.
